Procedure or Surgery (Partial liver removal): I was sent to MUSC in Charleston, SC to have a liver resection. They only removed 10% of my liver. Surgeon stated to my wife that if would have know my liver was in the shape it was he would've decided to not do the surgery. I was pretty much bleeding out. They used over 50 units of various blood products not to mention the fluids to sustain my life. Once that was squared away my wife and kids where told the next 24 hrs where going to be critical as to if I would live or not.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): Was feeling great and humming along in life. I was cleared of NHL stage 4 in April 2012 and followed with a CT scan in July 2012 being symptom free.
They decided to check my liver since I've had cirrhosis for 8-10 yrs. Bummer found couple of tumors of Hepatic Carcinoma... onto surgery I go

Hi Betsyyates, I'm so sorry to read about your grandma. I know it must be a struggle to see her become so weak in such a short amount of time.

My husband was dx w/ NHL stage 4 back the end of October 2011. I will say the chemo is not something for the weak and frail. Because it the chemo will will put you in that state.

My mother also just passed the end of January this year with cancer. I had not seen her in years but when I went to see her in the hospital and took one look at her I knew there was no way she would be able to sustain life after 1 treatment.

This will ultimately have to be your grandma's decision as to what course of treatment she will have. And if she chooses not to go thru it then know in your heart and mind that she has lived a good, long life.

We as humans find it so hard to let go and want to do everything to help our loved ones to continue on. My heart is with you and hope that you will find peace in what ever she decides. God bless you and your family.

Procedure or Surgery (PET scan): Our family is going thru the struggles of "waiting" for my husband to have his PET Scan on Weds. 4/25/2012. We are fortunate that we will obtain results on Friday 4/27. And I know that 48 hours will seem like an eternity.

So we will have to be encouraging to each other and I will have to stay strong for my husband and our kids.
