Radiation (External radiation ): I worked fulltime during radiation treatments, my appointment was at 4:45 pm each day. Side effects included a very bad sunburn (I've always burned easily) and being tired enough to go to bed early and sleeping hard. Lasting impact included a strong recommendation not to return to cycling due to brittle bones in shoulder. Luckily, some bone regeneration took place in year 3 and RadOnc revised recommendation provided I wear protective gear. So, I look like a gladiator on my mount, but I'm happy!
My wife was receiving chemotherapy during my radiation treatments, I wouldn't have traded places for the world!

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Surgical outcome was BETTER than expected: Limb was spared with full range of motion (technically I CAN move it, but hurts like XXX in certain positions even 8 years later), tumor was very large but contained. Recovery involved months of no physical exercise (I am used to daily workout) and 2+ years of physical therapy. Side effects include reduced use of affected arm (can't use a hammer, throw a ball, do push ups, repetitive weight over 15 pounds...).
I CAN hug my wife and kids, look normal in a jacket, carry groceries, use a lathe, one armed push ups...any and all things that do not require use of my right lateral deltoid which is completely gone.

Oh No (Misdiagnosed): After 5 months of misdiagnosis with visible rapid tumor growth, my wife's oncologist took a brief look and ordered MRI STAT. I was in exam room of super-specialized surgeon 135 miles away within 3 days.
