    Slight setback...

Wednesday evening I had trouble catching my breath, so went to the hospital (THANK YOU Victor-Farmington Ambulance Corp) to get it checked out.

After a couple of day of all kinds of tests, the docs think tumors have developed in my lungs, and that is the cause of my breathing trouble. They tried everything they could think of, but the only thing that helps is being on Oxygen full-time, so I am now at home with my machine and LOTS of tubing so I move around the house. I'll also have a visiting nurse to check things out from time to time.

Hopefully the new treatment we started this week as well will target those tumors and help me get better.

Guess that's it for the moment.... will update as necessary.

I wanted to be in touch regarding my latest test results.

Frankly, they were not great. The new drug that we started in November when the new spots in lungs were found is not working. Those spots are a but larger, there are several new spots in the lungs and some active lymph nodes, a possible blood clot in the right lung but they cant be certain because that lung is at least half-full of fluid.
The immediate plan is to drain the fluid on Monday and do another CT scan to look at that lung, and we’ll start a new chemotherapy drug by the end of next week if all is well.

The rest of the news is: this IS “Plan B.” There is not much, if anything, to try if this drug is not effective. It would then be time to talk about stopping chemotherapy completely, and focus on my comfort and ability to live as normal a life as possible – officially a “Palliative/Hospice” care option.

After almost 2 years of god news, it’s hard for me t share this latest update. I thank you all for the support you continue to give me, and hopefully this new drug will work, or we can find a clinical trial or an alternative if it doesn’t.
My love to all of you,
    Dan

Without giving up your plan B, why don't you look at alternatives? Look up guanabana, chaga mushroom, Habet el Baraka, artemisinin, raw & living food healing, Gerson therapy, Hippocrates Health Institute and plenty more. Good luck.

My thoughts and prayers are with you . It will help if you can put your life in Gods hands. My lung cancer has gone to my brain. Had cyber knife radiation on brain last Thursday but have given God the decision as to what happens next and I feel a great peace. God less you!

sorry for your latest results Dan, but as everyone says, don't give up hope on Plan B, and you may not know it yet, but there will probably be a plan C, seems they always just come up with another idea when we think they don't have anything else. I wish you the best.

Today was my 50th Chemotherapy infusion!

Also had a great visit and a long talk with the oncology nurse practitioner I work with. She is very good, and complements my oncologist quite well. We are looking at dealing with depression that has become significant since my last scan, not surprisingly

All in all a good day.

Hope that you and your families have great holiday celebrations, whichever one you do, and that any time you have together is fun.

    Dan

The CT Scan Results Are In...

But were not what we were hoping for. They show two new small spots of cancer... one in each lung.

They are very small and very new, so our plan is to attack them starting tomorrow... with an additional chemotherapy drug, added to the one I already take. The hope is that we can stop them in their tracks, like the main drug did, and continues to do, on the original areas. This new drug brings with it probable hair loss, but that's not a bid deal -- I can always go for the Kojak look (he said, dating himself) if I have to!

I am still feeling great -- probably the best I have since this journey began, so that's a plus.

We'll scan again in about 6-8 weeks to see how the new drug is working, and can make adjustments at that time if needed.

This was definitely not the news that I wanted to share with you all -- but it's what I got -- and we'll move forward from here, fighting all the way!

Dan I wish you the best and super powers to the extra drug you will be getting that it will seek and destroy! Let us know your progress. What will the combination be now that you will be getting?

The new combination is "Folferi" which is 5FU and Irinotecan. First run was this morning, and so far no issues!
