Has anyone had a problem with reconstruction after a mastecomy. My PS promised me the world and I am very unhappy with the final outcome

I'm glad you are talking about this. Face to face, I have not met any women who have not had problems, sometimes huge and life-threatening problems, by having reconstruction. I had bilateral mastectomy almost 2 years ago and am SO happy I chose the simple and less surgical option of no reconstruction. I wear foam prostheses in a mastectomy bra. Anyway, I just think it's super important for women who are considering reconstruction to hear the reality about what can (and does) happen because we are pushed by the medical profession and society to get it, even though there are a multitude of considerations and it's an individual decision. After a double lumpectomy I realized that whatever "reconstruction" after a mastectomy could be done, nothing could ever return me to feeling like they were "my" breasts again.

My understanding of insurance is that they HAVE to pay for post-mastectomy procedures. They may be hoping you'll fall for their line and fold. Check the federal law on this. You may have to threaten them. They also are supposed to pay for PS for other breast to match better. It is likely true there is different coding for basic PS and post-mastectomy PS. Coding is a nightmare for docs.
I was told I was covered forever for post-mastectomy and reconstruction issues.

Lists the fed law and individual state laws. See if that helps you fight your insurance co.
