Celebrating 20 years of being Cancer free. Don't know if I am current enough to be useful on this site but can always offer a positive attitude and a personal chearleader!

I didn't see further designation for Leiomyosarcoma. Anyone know if this exists.

Dave,
This was my diagnosis. Sloan Kettering did the pathology report. I was told by Dr's that they had never seen this type of Cancer where I had it. This is why they sent me to Mayo Clinic for first few consultations and then referred me to Hematology Oncology of Indiana whom I have been with since 1992.

Radiation (External radiation ): I had radiation on my skull following my second surgery to my head. At this point I was cancer free. The doctors recommended a radiation regiment once a week for six weeks. The idea was that if there were any residual cancer cells the radiation would kill the cells. This seemed to have work as I am cancer free today. Major side effect was that the Radiation treatment destroyed the hair follicles on the side of my head that the radiation was done. I have shaved my head ever since as it would look to funny growing out my hair on one side of my head and not the other. I can't say definitively that the radiation destroyed any residual cancer cells but the loss of my hair was worth the peace of mind.
