Had my first Therasphere treatment at Moffitt Cancer Ctr on Tuesday. I was all prepped and ready to go when fire alarms and strobe lights start going off! The Dr. was pacing nervously, waiting to see what was going to happen. One of the nurses joked about sliding me out the window on the hover mat LOL! My wife said people were running around with walkie talkies and fire extinguishers. I thought, "Oh no, now this will put off my treatment now" But it was ok, the treatment went well, and I have had almost no side effects. Have to re-start Nexavar Tuesday, though, which I don't look forward to!

Welcome, Debra! If you haven't started treatment yet, you might want to look into Therasphere, where they inject radioactive beads into the liver. I had my first treatment here at Moffitt Cancer Ctr in Tampa, but I believe it's available in other places as well. I only had a couple of bouts of nausea, and not much else for side effects. I feel pretty good. I am also doing Nexavar, which I don't like as much. Best of luck!

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Started Nexavar on Thursday 10/9 no side effects yet, hope to still try Therasphere once my bilirubin level gets lower. It was to high last time they tryed
