Day 4 of Chemo... This is the halfway point of Chemo. The downhill side is coming up. They are planning on doing a PET scan before the next treatment to see where we stand. The Chemo that I have been getting is the "speedy bullet, kill everything" type and the new stuff that I will get the last four treatments is a slower acting, longer lasting medication. All this will be followed by radiation...

So losing all my hair was more traumatic than I thought or it was the tipping point that set of three days of emotional turmoil. I spent most of those days crying for some reason but I don't know why. Maybe the visible sign (lose of hair) made everything more real.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Day 3 of Chemo...almost half way...Sorry I haven't been around for a while. The last dose of chemo made me very exhausted and all I did was sleep for 5 days. I also have had problems with shortness of breath. Hopefully, this treatment will not be as hard on me. I am grateful for all my friends and all those who are remembering me in their prayers.

Guess it decided that I wrote something inappropriate... I promise I didn't...

Hi there, don't worry about it. We have a very strict policy on what is deemed "appropriate" or not. But you didn't do anything wrong.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Had 2nd treatment of chemo last week and haven't had the energy to even open my computer. I slept for 5 days and then had to be very careful about what I did. I still have to watch what I am doing due to shortness of breath and have to take a break in the middle of everything.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Day 1 of chemo yesterday...blood work at 11:20 then time to kill until 1:30 except the moved the chemo up to 11:30...only problem is that my arm and hand are swollen and so they were worried about a blood clot so they wanted an ultrasound of my shoulder and arm before the chemo. Couldn't do an ultrasound until 5 pm so started chemo at 3:30. Ultrasound finished at 6 pm. Stop and get prescriptions. Finally home at around 8 pm. Very tired...but things are moving in the getting better direction which makes me happy.

Visit with the surgeon today...Cleared to go back to work as I am able and as I desire... Yeah! Just have to figure out what to do with the grandson between school dismissal and when his mom gets off work. (Of course, that is assuming that I can last a whole 10 hrs at work.)

Procedure or Surgery (Porta Cath implanted): My shoulder has still not recovered from the mastectomy and axillary disection and now is more sore, but maybe it will only last for a day or two.

Hi dispatcher, I just read your diagnosis. All these steps are so familiar to me. I really appreciated my port! It shouldn't stay sore for very long. I was a given a cream to use an hour before my port was accessed called EMLA (it has lidocaine) and that made procedures using my port painless.

Be sure and drink plenty of water...chemo starts tomorrow? Will you start with adriamycin and cytoxin? One thing I didn't expect was how the steroids that are used would affect me. They made it very hard for me to sleep. You might want to ask about that. I never felt physically bad the day of chemo. It took a couple of days for the effects to be felt. My chemo day was also Wednesday. Weekends I would try to sleep and l would listen to relaxation/meditation cds. By Monday, I felt good enough to go to work. May all go well with you!

Yes Lynn1950, those are my drugs. As of today, my shoulder feels better than it has since November 7th when they did the lumpectomy. We'll see about work. My days are Saturday thru Tuesday but they are being really good about it. All my co-workers have been told to work as if they are the only ones there in case I don't make it in or I have to leave.
