shhwee, thanks for the answer, we started out at Mayo, they confirmed the diagnosis, told my wife this cancer would end her life, sent us back to Springfield Illinois, told us to do six months of chemo,. after three months they would do a scan and if there were positive changes they would talk to us further, not a good experience. I did ask loma linda about proton therapy and they said they did not do it for bile duct cancer. went up to northwestern university Monday, they ask us to do three more chemo treatments, come back up the sixth of June, they would do a scan and plan on getting her into a thera sphere trial. Where did you have the proton therapy ?, thanks, don

Mayo is an equally amazing facility. The Royals send their family members to one its so good!
Well they arent sure lol. I did Proton Therapy [which you and your wife should look up]. After the Proton Therapy my tumor was 75% gone. We are pretty sure Proton did the trick. If it interests you let your doctor know you would like a refferal to go to a nearby hospital capable of providing it for you. Then go and have a consultation to see if the Proton Therapy could benefit you guys. It's much better than standard radiation.
Don't ever accept the "we cant do much" speech. Theres always more they can do in other hospitals. I wish you and your wife a triumphant journey!! Your wife is now a Warrior and the chemo will be her sword!!

I have bile duct cancer and I am being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhatten. I have a Hepatic Artery Infusion pump (implanted chemo pump that pumps chemo directly to liver -- no side effects).
MSK is an amazing cancer center. Check it out on the web. People travel from around the world for treatment there.
