Side Effects (Nasuea, extreme fatigue, diarhea, mouth sores, fever, chills, depression, anger and flushing): Most of these side effects have a medication to help. You start feeling good just when it's time to return for another cycle. A new anti-nasuea drug has just been approved, it's called Amend. I had a shot of it on day 5, cycle 3, just before I was discharged from the hospital. It seems to be working well.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy and immunotherapy combined (biochemotherapy)): Kaiser Permanante Insurance - HMO west coast (CA, NV, WA, HA) has a 3 cycle biochemotherapy program in Riverside, CA at their Riverside Medical Center (Hospital) only. After testing lungs, heart, brain and full body petscan outcomes, you may qualify for this program. Six days inpatient, central line inserted, 6 different types of chemo for 5 days along with a shot of Interferon daily in stomach. Then a two week discharge at home. Readmitted in Medical Center for another 6 days, two more times to complete a total of 3 cycles. Blood lab testing every morning to check if your healthy enough for that day's Biochemo. If not you will be discharged that day and will return for the next scheduled cycle. After 3 cycles another petscan, but all of your chemo is finished.

Dear donwragg- I hope you are feeling great! I also have Kaiser and last month saw Dr. Moon and the ABC treatment center in Riverside. I would love to hear more about your experience with their treatment of biochemo. I am so afraid to go through with it. Right now, I am Stage 3b melanoma and just had lymph node dissection in groin area two months ago. I cannot decide if I want to go through that treatment- as of now I am NED:)) please take care. I go to Kaiser Anahiem a lot to see Dr. Vaqerano. Do you see him also? I wish that Kaiser offered more clinical trials.
