Other Care (Hospitalization): Have had 5 major surgeries in last 2 and a half years. Partial to amputation due to cancerous growth (03/22/2017). Then fused with heel bone chip and titanium screws. ACDF on my C5C6 neck surgery and fusion (08/14/2017). Then supposed laparoscopic gallbladder removal and hernia repair (04/27/2018). 3 hours after surgery I began bleeding internally. I was rushed back into the O.R. where I was cut and stapled from my breast to my bikini line. As well as having a massive blood transfusion of 7 units of blood and 2 units of platelets. In hospital for 2 weeks. It's been almost 1 year and I am still in excruciating pain. The mesh has moved and I may NEVER be able to wear a pair of jeans without an elastic waist band. It was the most horrific time ever in my life.

I had stage 2 or 3 Melanoma 50 years ago as a young woman, then was fine till a few years ago when i was hit with a rare Angiosarcoma, GIST, and a series of pre-cancerous tumors that all needed attention right away.

It seems as if something went amiss with my genes, DNA, or who knows what!
Anyway, since I am not writing this from my "just reward", I am still here, and dealing with the aftermaths of these cancers.

So just be very aware of your body & see your doctor with regularity.

Hi, I too have battled renal cell. My first recurrence was 3 years out and had gone to a lung. 10 years later, just last month, it returned to my other and only kidney. Because of regular scans it was caught early and treated quickly, so I am once again NED. There is always a chance of recurrence, but you can’t just sit around waiting for it. Live your life to the fullest every day, make plans and do everything you can to take good care of yourself. Don’t just be a survivor, be a WARRIOR!

I have 3 different breeds of cancer all at different stages. My Dr.s told me that my chances of getting any kind of cancer were the same the chances of getting the first cancer. Since I am now juggling 3 cancers, I am wondering who's next. As everyone here suggests "take care of yourself","get regular physicals" report any wierdness in your body's behavior to your PCP. My thoughts are 5 years is just when the Dr.s get bored saying you're NED. Everyone should be watchful for all cancers.

Oh No (Just Diagnosed): Went to ER due to side ache. History of stones. They did a cat scan and informed me I must see my primary care physician ASAP. Mass on right kidney. Saw Dr.next day. Then specialist. After 15 Dr appointments and as many tests and scans. No biopsy needed. But, RADICAL NEPHRECTOMY ASAP
