Radiation (External radiation ): Radiaton was really hard. The first 2 weeks he handled it pretty good. The 3rd week toward the end he could no longer swallow anything. We ended up in emergency room and had to have IV fluids and antibiotic because he was running a fever. They then scheduled him for a peg tube.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Chemo went well and he never got sick. He was given Cisplatin 1 weekly. After the fourth chemo his white blood count droped and he ended up in the hospital for 7 days. They did not finish his last 3 treatments. They radiation was his main treatment the chemo was to help it work better. The tumor was very large and they were trying to shrink it faster.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): My husband had a biopsy and 11 teeth pulled. It went well and his recovery was not bad. The problem after that was he had no back teeth to chew with. Eating became very hard.

Oh No (Diagnosed): My husband has always been very healthy and active. He is very hard headed when it comes to going to a Doctor. He had a lump under his jaw on the right side. He had to be forced to go to Dr to check and see what it was. He waited months to do something about it. He probably would not have gone if it hadn't gotten so big.
