So it took me a week to decide my route for surgery. Decided to schedule simple mastectomy, mainly because i am allergic to almost all pharmacy drugs. I can't even tolerate aspirin. I have used marijuana as my sole form of medication for 34 years. I have very serious concerns re: radiation & chemo therapies and how my body would react to it! When i called to schedule my surgery i also inquired about the immunohistochemistry results...they were 3x negative and now specialist informs me that there is also one area of concern, one of my lymph nodes is almost the same size as my tumor- but has no invasive cells seen on the exterior of enlarged lymph node, won't know any more info until sentinal node removal and pathology performed at time of mastectomy. HOWEVER.. because of the TRIPLE THREAT(3x neg) results now regardless of which surgery i have , it will need to be followed by chemo and radiation..and since i was choosing to start reconstructive surgery at the same time as mastectomy, my specialist would now be unable to perform my surgery at all because the plastic surgeon he is working with NO LONGER ACCEPTS BCCTP/MEDICAL insurance...therefore he would have to pull a couple of names out of a hat for my further treatment and it would be somewhere in Riverside, somewhere!!!! WTF!!! And now it is going to take 4 weeks longer before they could pencil me in for any surgery- at my initial consult i was told it would be 2 weeks fo have procedure done!

Oh No (Diagnosed): Have had a few oh no moments recently. I am a cancer survivor of 23 yrs, cervical cancer at 24. So my #1oh no -was discovering a golf ball size mass in my L breast at the beginning of june! oh no #2 -it took 3 weeks to get enrolled into BCCTP and obtain my clinical breast exam!! Oh no #3- it took another month before i could obtain a digital mammogram & ultra sound imagery!!! Within 3 days i was dealing with a needle core biopsy. Oh no# 4- getting a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma and having to wait another 2 weeks before my appointment with a specialist to discuss surgical options.!!!! Oh No #5- having to make a decision between 2 surgical procedures..either lumpectomy followed by 30 rounds of radiation...or mastectomy and no radiation!!!!!!!!
