I was nauseous with the first treatment (thought it was nerves), but I told the rad onc and he told me to take anti-nausea pills used for chemo around the clock, before nausea set in. Well, that went away as soon as the diarrhia started in on me. I would suggest you get some Imodium before you need it. I couldn't go to my mailbox (across the street) during radiation because I would have to go to the restroom urgently. I couldn't make it to the bathroom when I was in my own house. Of course, my rad onc was not compassionate, so I was on my own to solve my problems. I was seriously dehydrated. By the time, I resumed chemo, I needed an I.V. and had uti from the radiation. Be proactive and get what you need to get through it. I tried to drop out after only 2weeks.

I've had radiation twice over 27 years of cancer. The first time, the radiation left very few side effects, in fact I thought it was not much of a struggle. I had very little darkening, or burning, and felt just a little fatigue. But I was much younger and able to take it better. 7 years ago, I had radiation again, this time the side effects started in 2 weeks, with dry mouth, then on 3rd week I started with some burning, by the 4th week I had sores in my mouth, problems swallowing, fatigue, and a few others. What it comes down to, is that radiation treats us all differently, and where you are treated on your body has it's own set of unique side effects, your age and overall general health will also be a factor. One person's experience, may or may not be like yours. We wish you the best in recovery.
