      Hi EveryonesMom,
If you had hair loss before cancer treatments, that sounds like an autoimmune disease, probably alopecia. Or some sort of vitamin deficiency. I don't know your general health or your age ( autoimmune diseases usually strike the young but not always ) but I would definitely ask your regular doctor, or maybe go to a rheumatologist. I'm saying this because I'm a lupus patient as well as a cancer patient, and I suffered from hair loss prior problems years before I had cancer. For my hair I use Rogaine twice a day, and I also take 3 pills of MSM every day ( from trader joes but many places sell it ) and I finally have nice full hair again. I'm 54 and I've had cancer for 3 years and lupus for 34 years. Good luck to you and god bless!

I am losing my hair due to my thyroid being slow. My hair use to be thick and curly and now it is thin and straight. I am on thyroid, but it doesn't seem to help the hair. I am taking supplements and it seems to help. Biotin is the one that is suppose to be good for hair and nails. I use to have very weak nails, but now they are strong and the hair fall out has slowed somewhat so I can only attribute it to the Biotin. But like the others say, it might be something else and you should have it checked out. I am going to try that Black Current See Oil Capsules and see what that does for me and my hair fall out.

There are a lot of hair growth solutions out there where the shampoo's are. There are also some that are prescription. There are also pills. I have never heard anything negative about them so I guess they work. People have come for refills also when I was employed as a pharmacy technician. I have also seen commercials for various products or procedures to help hair growth. Good Luck and thanks for the tip about the hair loss and cancer diagnosis or a second diagnosis. The only hair loss I'm familiar with is with chemo. I am sorry you are experiencing this.KimG09

I was wondering what caused your hair loss? I was told I wouldn't lose my hair with radiation.

It depends on where the radiation hits you. I had radiation on my chest, throat and up to the crown of my head. I lost my hair in the back of my head where the radiation struck me.
