I don't know who you mean by "these people", and why you think that way. I don't even know where you are getting treatment. I have to say that the one saving grace I have is the fact that I have a great hospital and treatment facility here in Syracuse , NY. That helps, although I must say I still hate going.
What stage are you? I didn't have radiation, but I did have surgery.
If people act like they think you are out of your mind, just tell them the truth, you are feeling awful.

I understand exactly how you feel. For me, that comes and goes. Sometimes I hate myself and sometimes I am grateful to still be alive. I think that when I think too deeply on my cancer, that is when I get a bit dark. I take lorazepam and that helps. Part of this feeling of lack of self worth I think also comes just from not feeling 100%. I'd like to be there for you when you feel this way, but as they say this is a very lonely disease....just not all the time.
