I was just about to post this question myself! Prior to chemo, I was in a very technical career. My husband called me the Queen of Multitasking. Alas, chemo brain has set in and although it is improving (I am much better at remembering where I left things), I am having a very, very difficult time accepting the cognitive issues I am now encountering. I just began a new job and I am having a really, really difficult job remembering tasks I've been asked to do, processes and I am horrified that I can't multitask anymore.

I actually had a melt-down last night, crying to my husband that I miss my old mind and I feel that it is humiliating that I can't function at the same level. It's the first time I ever cried actually feeling sorry for myself...never happened once during my cancer journey, but now 8 months post-chemo I am having a really tough time adjusting to the "new" me.

Not only do I forget things, but I get confused with time lines. I will remember something that happen yesterday, only to find out it actually happen last week. I too forget what I was saying in the middle of a sentence. Really bad when you go to ask your care-giver "would you please go to the store and................." I was in the hospital for 2 weeks for my transplant and now I can't remember where anything is in my apartment. I do write things down when I remember to write things down.

Does anyone have trouble with memory issues? Since second diagnosis and treatment i can not seem to remember anything i will be trying to tell someone something and forget someones name or the name of objects. Is it just me or has anyone else had that problem?

This would be great to post in our Questions section. You can do this by clicking on the "Ask Network" link on your logged in home page or the "Questions" link at the top of this page. When you post needs/questions using our question feature, we route your question to everyone in the network who might be able to help. Also, know you can use the "Update" feature on the site to keep anyone who might be following you on WhatNext up to date.

I look forward to reading about your progress.

Celebration (Cancer is shrinking): cancer may have shank but recovery is slow. It has destroyed nerves leading to left hand. Leading to painful therapy.
