My husband has carcinoid syndrome. His cancer also started in his lung - they are currently trying to find a cause, since all tests (CT, PET, Octreotide, 5HIAA, etc.) are coming back as normal. Oncologist has suggested radiation, possibly chemo as a prophylactic.

I am taking hormonal theapy for my carcinoid cancer.. It started in my lung and has metastasized to my liver. The surgeon saw the problem with my liver when he was doing a hernia repair. He estimated 200 tumors. They found the spot on my lung with a CT scan and then did a biopsy of the spot and determined that is where the cancer started. I am taking Sandostatin in shot form once a month and it seems to working.. It reduces the production of seritonin (which is the cause of the problem). Before treatment the count in my blood was 2000+. After my second shot it was down to 170--after 3rd shot it was 138. My next appointment and shot is next week. I am hoping that the numbers have gone down again. I have a little more time each time I get a good report. They have told me that my cancer is treatable--not curable. I serve a God of miracles and I am still praying for one in my life.
