Celebration (Remission): The results of the post operative lab report was released. We were looking for clear margins but instead they found no melanoma period. That makes me N.E.D. No treatments are required. I will be monitored with CAT scans & physical exams for 5 years.

Procedure or Surgery (Wide excision surgery): I had surgery at Cleveland Clinic on December 13 to remove enough tissue to hopefully get clear margins. The surgery I had in October to remove a polyp had lead to a diagnosis of malignant anal melanoma.
Cleveland Clinic was awesome as per usual.
ACS's Hope House was TERIFIC.

Celebration (Negative PET scan & CT scan): This was great news but I was told that I was not out of the woods yet. Due to the nasty nature of this type of cancer, I will be having additional surgery on December 13 at the Cleveland Clinic.

Oh No (Diagnosed): I just got thru prostate cancer in April, 2010. Now this? My melenoma is an unusual type. It is anal malignant melanoma. My bigest issue now is how to identify the medical oncologist and/or treatment facility.
