Has anyone had any luck finding socks that don't cut off the circulation?

      Dear GlassCal,

Hi. I'm Aliza, a BC patient and the site's unofficial Medical Librarian. I offer advice (usually non medical [Librarians don't offer medical advice as a matter of professional ethics and well, it's illegal as well. It's practicing medicine sans license]). But I offer referrals to doctors, hospitals/institutions, agencies, etc. and research when required/requested.

Yours is a relatively simple question to answer and there's more than one answer, but I'm going to refer you to an online store called wwwdothealthyfootstoredotcom. I hope you can follow that. I'm sorry I have to list the URL this way but if I list it the normal way, they'll delete it. The store offers a toll free number where you can phone to get advice as they offer all kinds of different socks for all kinds of problem feet, so I suggest you call.

I hope this solves your sock problem and that your diagnosis doesn't turn out to be more serious than what brought you here in the first place. That's enough (more than) to deal with!!

If I can do anything else for you, please don't hesitate to ask. Message me here or email me offsite.

      Warm wishes,
      AlizaMLS

Take a deep breath. I think your oncologist is being cautions and making sure nothing else is the matter, which is why he referred you to a Neurologist. Sometimes having cancer means being test for TB if you cough too much (ok that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I did have a brain scan when I became woozy from too much BP meds)

I found that wearing low cut sport socks really helped when I was having issues with swelling.

Did any of you get the chemo side effect of lesions on the brain?

YES! And thank goodness someone else has as well. I had headaches all through chemo and my oncologist said to wait a few weeks after chemo was over to see if they subsided before we did any further tests. Chemo ended August 17, 2012. Headaches did not stop. I had a brain MRI and got my results on September 6, 2012. I now suffer from migraines (thanks chemo...ugh) and also the MRI showed white lesions on my brain similiar to those of a stroke victim. So, yes, I have the lesions. I suffer from migraines, some dizziness, and a little bit of vertigo, which is all related to the "stroke brain" as I like to call it. I was referred to a neurologist who concurred. No MS, just brain trauma caused by chemo. The good news is that it may get better over time. The bad news is that it may not.

Hopefully you don't have MS and just have the lesions from chemo.

If you have read about some of the homeopathic cures you may want to try some of them to lessen the effects of these brain lesions. I have personally had great success with the Budwig Protocol and know many others who also have -- for many different problems. Flax seed oil seems to be a cure-all miracle --even for pets. It may help and it can only make you healthier so I would try it and see if after 6mos or so there is improvement. Good luck and God Bless.

Thanks for the insight...and yes I've had a chance to calm down from that news! Also, I've been told by more than one person I know that this is what happened to Sheryl Crow. Since I first heard this news from my oncologist I have also remembered the other reasons why I could have the lesions, one of which is a side effect of chemo...this was also the first reason listed in the MRI report for the lesions as well...! While I still feel like the same ol' GlassCal...this is still a troubling side effect nonetheless...

Just curious...when I write in or my profile comes up, etc., what town is associated with it?

Thanks Greg, that's exactly what I did...just wasn't sure it took!

BTW, while my body was throwing off chemo drugs in the middle of the night, I kept having dreams of the river coming over the parking lot and taking my car...been raining here for the past week! If the river comes up...my car might be flushed, as it were...! Guess I should move it to higher ground somewhere...! ;-)

If you have a lot of movements, and then Flushing, it's a good sign that you're not stopped up.

The jokes you are giving this lady are funny. Just glad she hasn't been flushed away anywhere.

Well, I fully intend to fight! This is mostly because before the economy crashed I had a job that I LOVED that I dearly want to do again...but maybe not so much by accident this time. At the job that I did have 18 days before my diagnosis was just finally earning enough money to go back to school for the pre-economic crash job...then I had to quit. Until I push the cancer back far enough, I guess I get to happily dive in to hobbies that have been somewhat neglected :)

While at my oncology appointment yesterday, my oncologist said that a brain MRI that was done for an unrelated matter, had picked up multiple white matter lesions. This news had me broken up a bit until I remembered that I heard him say that they were not related to the cancer. In fact he also said that the PET scan done at the same time said the abnormal cell growth on my liver had disappeared too. After examining my right breast, he said that my original tumor had shrunk 50%-to 60%. This is amazing to me...particularly since I've only had two chemo treatments!!! While I was coming back from the appointment with my sister, some of my wonderful friends were risking their employment by getting on the 'net at work and texting my hopeful information...Good God, I hope these people don't get fired! Between friends texting me and people to whom I've talked too in the last day, I've had more than one person tell me that Sheryl Crow had the same side effect too. If this is a SIDE EFFECT, I've certainly got nailed with a troubling one! After about a day of calming down, I fully read the MRI report and it said these lesions could be related to post-chemo therapy, then next was migraines (which I've had in the past), and then a few more other fairly benign things were listed. The report also said there were no signal abnormalities or abnormal blood flow...YAY! My Oncologist referred me to a Neurologist just to make sure that I don't have the beginnings of MS and also to check out the unrelated matter which was a leg that fell asleep after I was doing something almost four weeks ago. Everything on the leg came back gradually so far, except the tapping motion in the foot. Guess I'll have to wait 'til Monday to see what the Neurologist says!

Thanks for the answer to the time frame question! I fully intend to fight, mostly because I feel oddly normal with the exception of the affected area that looks a bit odd. Mostly I was just curious that I didn't get a time frame...that's all, really :-)
