I'm not familiar with Leukine. At Stage IV melanoma I have received 2 kinds of immunotherapy (Interleukin-2 and Yervoy, also called ipilimumab), 5 surgeries, and two radiations. I was diagnosed in 1990, metastasis found in 2008, and I'm still around! After two brain surgeries this year, I'm back to downhill skiing. My experience with finding joy in the midst of medical madness is chronicled in my book, Melanoma Mama: On Life, Death, and Tent Camping. You can read the first two chapters for free at Amazon.com and on my website, melanomamama.com.

Hello, I am an oncology nurse, not a patient so I cannot give you a personal experience. I am confident that someone will however, until then I am attaching a link from chemocare.com. This is an excellent site along with chemotherapyadvisor.com for patients who wish to learn more about their treatments. Chemocare really goes into what is expected and so I tend to paste their descriptions more frequently. Chemotherapyadvisor will give you the list of regimens. Both sites are free to join and I hope this will give you some information until someone responds to your post. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.http://www.chemocare.com/chemotherapy/drug-info/Leukine.aspx

Hi. I was diagnosed with Stage III Melanoma last year. I was on the weekly Interferon treatment for 1 year and I was given Leukine about 4 times.
I am going to be totally honest with you here. Leukine was no fun. It took the side effects of the Interferon and made them much more extreme. I was on treatment and trying to be a mom, wife, and work. The week I took Leukine I basically had to stay in bed the entire time. The good thing about it, is that it works. I guess sometimes GOOD things make us FEEL bad. I had to just keep repeating this to myself over and over again. Let me know if you have any other questions. I will do the best I can to relay my experience.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): I was diagnosed with Stage IIA melanoma in Dec 2011. I had a wide excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy which was negative. The cancer returned and I had another wide excision in Feb 2013. The diagnosis is regional recurrent metastatic melanoma.
