I was having lots of issues sleeping and lots of disturbing dreams. I went to see a psychtrist as part of an inclusive pharma consult, as I was having other issues with anxiety, anger, etc. He prescribed a mild non addictive sleeping pill, which I take as needed - usually the day of my infusion a 2-3 days after, it really helped with sleeping through the night and the dreams

I had a lot of trouble sleeping during the treatment cycles I went through. I learned to just go with it and have my Kindle close by for late night scrabble games or reading. Cancer is SO hard to go through and some of the corny things to help are deep breathing....and meditation. It seems hard, but you can do this! I had to get in the mind set of fighting cancer and being able to handle whatever came my way. Settling your brain down and know others have fought the fight and you can to ! Hope this helps...hang in there!

Ugh I went through this...... I'd get like two hours a night, and I'm a "need sleep" kinda girl. Ultimately, the doctor prescribed me Adavan, which was too strong. I started taking advil or alleve which helped, and I also invested in lavender candles, lavender bath gel/lotion, comfy pajamas, and a sound therapy machine. All of helped, but still have restless nights on occasion. It'll get better!

    gopats shared an experience

Procedure or Surgery (Full lymph node dissection): I just had a right side full lymph node dissection and had my parotid gland removed. They removed 80 lymph nodes and I have been home for 4 days. The pain from the surgury was minimal except my shoulders which hurts for 2 days. The surgery took 10 hours and my arms were in a strange position. Now I am just waiting to get my drains out. I can not sleep and keep having nightmares of the surgury. Does or did anyone else have this experience and when do they go away?
