Hello Carcinoidgirl, I've been living with carcinoid tumors going on 13 years. Mine started in the small intestine. The main tumor was removed surgically, upon diagnosis. Unfortunately, by then it had metastisized to my liver. Several years ago, I had to have TACE, (transarterial chemo embolization). I now have a lesion that has started to grow again. and will be seeing the doc in Interventional Radiology on July 24. At this point, I am feeling fairly well. I do get very tired sometimes, although I don't know if that's connected to the carcinoid or my age - I am 78. I was on octreotide for quite a long time, but my oncologist and I wanted to see what would happen if I stopped taking it. That was the end of October. I think overall, I' ve done fairly well. Now he's making noises about starting it again, which I will probably have to do. I would like to know your history and how you've dealt with it, if you're willing to share that information. In the meantime, keep on keeping on! Grammyma

Hi. I've been a carcinoid cancer patient for over 12 years. Mine also started in small intestine and metazised to liver. I've gone through chemoembolization twice in recent years and I have an appointment on Friday for a consult for another one. I'd like to hear about your experiences if you are willing to share. Take care. Grammyma

Hi PaigeB, Sorry to hear that you're coping with carcinoid. However, take heart. I am going on my 12th year of having carcinoid tumors. I was operated on almost 12 years ago to remove the main tumor, but it had metastasized to my liver before they found the main one. Currently, I am getting injections of Sandistatin LAR Depot every 28 days. I have been through many surgeries, and had to have two sessions of chemoembolations on my liver. I am tired constantly, but have been seeing a therapist for quite awhile to deal with a lot of stuff. It is very helpful, and I recommend it. I have never been given chemo nor radiation, because my oncologist has said it isn't recommend for me. Your oncologist feels differently. I urge you to hang in there and don't give up. If I can survive this long, you can, too! Be good to yourself. Find out what you can about relaxation techniques and practice them. If possible, seek the help of a therapist. Send me a message anytime you want. Hugs and prayers to you from Grammyma
