Hi Jennifer. I read your news first on CSN. I am glad that you are feeling more positive now. It IS an awful, sneaky beast. Best wishes that all goes well. xoxoxox

1 week into my now stage 4 diagnosis. Er+, Pr-, Her2- BC jumped to brain, OMG. At least 3 maybe 4 lesions. Started Whole brain radiation 12/22 with 4th trtmt of 15 due today, probably cyber or gamma knife after rads course. Chest, abdomen and pelvic CT as well as bone scan done 12/22- CLEAR. MO and RO offering words of remission and long term hope - that is a blessing. I guess no mets anywhere else makes me an "odd bird", couldn't I have won any prize besides a cancer one?
Still processing it all but feeling more positive and joyful than 1 week ago.
What a sneaky beast, I was unaware of the brain/blood barrier that did not let chemo or Tamoxifen in to protect my brain but let the blood borne rogues through
Still alive and learning,
Jennifer

Thank you Lynn..I can't wait til about 2 1/2 weeks from now when I can shout the news of the birth of my 2nd JC, (girl this time) Yes their family all have J first names, no they aren't the Duggers. My biggest short term goal and motivation right now is to get my hands on that little dolly. I keep rubbing her mommy's tummy saying come out and see your BeBe. That is what her brother calls me right now. LOVE IT

2nd Thanksgiving since diagnosis. 7 months post chemo, nearly 5 months post rads...didn't find myself 1 time wondering what the holiday would be like without me next year. That's progress, and since I don't see my oncologist til January I should be doing better through Christmas too. Woo hoo!

Decision Point: Gyn did pelvic u/s as baseline for Tamoxifen - 3 mths post starting Tamox. Noted thickening, fibroids, ovarian cyst..had endometrial biopsy which was fine but still rec. hyst. Sent to other gyn as 1st gyn doesn't do surgery, that gyn didn't rec. surgery. 3rd gyn rec. hyst due to worry about ovarian cancer, onco said yeah, good idea. Primary care doc says no, wait until healthier, BC is in remission, RA is in remission, stress could cause problems with RA. He suggested wait at least 6 months. So waiting. What a bunch of info and conflicting thought. Will revisit at a later date

Have decided to wait on having a hysterectomy. 2 ob/gyn for it, 1 against, my onc either for or neutral and my primary care doc against. The primary care doc had valid points about my overall health, not just concerns regarding breast and ovarian cancer...he thinks I need to be healthier before another big surgery.
