    Deidre,

My first major surgery was 2 years ago today. They removed a cancerous tumor that had grown from the left ureter into the left kidney. They removed both of those organs along with the tumor some lymph nodes and some fatty surrounding tissue. I'm told that cancer in the ureter is also considered bladder cancer because it has the same cell structure. I started chemo in March of 2011. I just completed cycle 4 (of 6) of my 4th different chemo cocktail. The last CT scan showed some positive results (yeah!).

I'm not sure what d/t or N/V mean - help me with that (I have chemo brain). As for the appetite, you can talk to your docs about Marinol (sythetic marijauna). I tried it, but I didn't like the buzz. However, it was good for the appetite. I am currently on the "see food" diet. Docs say, "if you see food - eat it." I end up eating a lot of junk, but I need the calories. I have had some soreness in my mouth, but not ulcers. My dentist gave me a rinse that I could use. Before you use anything like this, be sure to clear it with your Oncologist.

Welcome Deidre. This is a great site. Ask questions. Many of us experience the same things that you are experiencing now. Your docs should be able to help you with all the side effects you mentioned. I've had most of them at one time or another. I've also ended up back in the hospital twice after chemo treatments. After some fluids, some antibiotics and occasionally some blood (low hemoglobin), they send me home tired (because they don't let you sleep in the hospital) but feeling much better.

Are you finished with chemo? Did you have surgery yet?
My main issue now is not being able to eat d/t N/V and oral ulcers. What worked for you?

I tried loading my profile pic several times. I also tried posting a pic. I'm using IE. I am not familiar with Chrome. I'll have to ask my kids.

We have a little trouble from time to time with IE, I use Chrome and IE both, and can get both to work. Sorry your having trouble, it's probably something with your computer not letting it go through. After you have your kids look at it, let me know if you are still having trouble, we will have tech support check your account to make sure nothing is wrong there.

      Thanks

I can't seem to post my pic. I get a "Bad Gateway" error message.

Hi Greg, are you trying to post a profile pic, or post a picture on your page? And also, what browser are you using? I find that Chrome will work when IE does not. Let me know if you still having problems.
