Procedure or Surgery (Laser surgery): I was rushed into surgery 3 days after learning I had cancer. I had no time to think "I have cancer." (Which turned out to be the best for me.) my doctor performed a laser surgery not only removing my cervix, but also hitting & burning out all cells in the vaginal walls. When I woke up, I was given a medication that made me extremely hyperactive & I INSISTED I had to urinate. After I was awake, it was explained that after that extensive of a laser procedure, it's normal to feel pressure in what you think is your bladder but it's just inflammation.
I was not prepared for my aftercare. I felt like I had a 3rd degree burn inside my vagina all the way up into the cervix.
After a few days of severe cramping, the burnt skin started to slough out. My next step after havi g the doctor check my recovery was to douche with Betadine and warm water mixture. I was NOT prepared to see all the burnt flesh coming out and it smelled like burned flesh as well.
Because it was an emergency surgery, the doctor that performed the surgery had only seen me once to talk about the treatment options, second was the surgery. His reaction to seeing me at my first surgery check-up, he didn't recognize my face. I was in the stirrups & he exclaims, "Ohhhh, I remember this cervix!!!"
That put me at ease immediately and set the tone for our 20 yr relationship.

Oh No (Misdiagnosed): I was misdiagnosed for 3 years until, by accident/fate, I was diagnosed w/stage 6 dysplasia on and all around my cervical and vaginal walls.
