Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Still recouping. Spent 5 days in hospital. At home recouping since that time (2 1/2 weeks so far). Still sore under breast and side. First week was rough. Felt like I was choking when I ate. I also have a lot of heartburn and have to take medicine for that now. I never had hearburn prior to surgery.
Just got back from Cleveland Clinic and 2 days of testing which included a 2cd bronchoscopy, PET scan, another CT scan, lung scan, vascular scan, echocardiogram, ekg, blood tests for surgery, chest x-ray, and another consultation with the thoracic surgeon and a consult with anesthesiologist. I have a 30% chance of saving the right upper lobe. Most likely will be a right pneumonectomy. Surgery scheduled for next Thursday 10/11/12. I was hoping to keep more of my lung. It is just too big and positioned in a really bad spot. Just thankful there are no other tumors anywhere else in my body so far. Dreading the pain post-op and long recoup time. He said 2 months to recoup.
Oh No (Diagnosed): Right Mainstem bronchus carcinoid tumor 6/28/12
Hello -
Hope you are doing well. I was wondering if you were diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor or small cell (or both). I am confused a little (obviously). If you had a carcinod where was it located? I am recently diagnosed with a lung carcinoid and am searching for answers.
God Bless,
Laurie
