why does everything I drink taste salty ?

As I recall, our taste buds are rapidly replacing cells, and so can be attacked by some chemo. Are you currently in treatment? Here is some info, but not a lot is known with certainty about this problem.

      Hi Helen,
Did you have the Radioactive Iodine treatment? The Iodine can burn your saliva glands which changes the way the enzymes in your mouth work. the strange thing for me is that this didn't change my taste suddenly, it was sneaky. Because of the taste and the dry mouth I find I need to compensate by drinking water or chewing gum. I have learned over many years to carry sugar free gum or mints with me.
Change of taste can also signal that your thyroid level has changed, I am really aware of the times when my thyroid levels need to be checked. I drop things and overcook things (my sense of smell is off).
I hope I have helped, Thyroid is a tricky thing to work without - contact me if you want to talk, Tracy
