Hi, I too am a stage IV cancer survivor and I am going on 5 years NED. I was diagnosed stage 4 in August 2011 The cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and liver. I had the standard protocol for chemo and radiation. I also had a liver resection. I feel great and I have been blessed in so many ways since my journey began. This may sound crazy but cancer made me a better person. I noticed you live in Summerville, SC My sister lives there and I have vacationed in Summerville for over 20 years.

Sorry you were diagnosed. I am 55 and was diagnosed over 4 years ago with Stage 4 anal cancer. Although the treatment was a little rough, it is short term and doable. I gathered a lot of information from being on forums with other survivors.

Thank you for the support. It's all a bit scary right now. Getting a test to stage the cancer tomorrow.

I will keep you in my prayers. Keep me posted. If you ever have any questions about treatment, this would be a good place to get answers. American Cancer Society has a forum called cancer survivors network and there is a lot of good information there from other survivors.

I am a 4+ year survivor of stage 4 anal cancer. When diagnosed the cancer had already spread to my lympth nodes and liver. I had the standard treatment, was hospitalized for a short time. I also had surgery to remove a portion of my liver. During treatment my mom died suddenly, a few weeks later my husband died suddenly. Despite all this, the Lord has blessed me. I am in such a better person than I was before cancer I have no side effects. I am 55, I am raising 2 grandchildren and manage a 70 acre tree farm. I have horses, chickens, cats, dog. I volunteer for 7 different organizations. Treatment is doable. Fortunately, it doesn't last long. God bless you.
