    Celebration (Partial Remission): Even though we continue to keep an eye on the event of a relapse - we do celebrate daily for this life. There are newer therapies being discovered that continue to raise hope for Myeloma patients.

    Decision Point (Should we initiate maintainence therapy following stem cell transplant?): Research was saying, after stem cell transplant, patients should consider some maintainence therapy. However quality of life issues are of prime importance. What is the likelihood that quality of life is better in maintainence therapy versus time until relapse. The side effects of the chemos present their own issues.

    Procedure or Surgery (Stem Cell Transplants): The protocal at that time was to collect my own stem cells for a stem cell transplant and a possible second depending on reponse from the first. I had the first SCT in November 2007 followed by a second in February 2008.

    Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Front line therapy included Thaildomide with Dexemethesone. It seems all of the side effects visited me. Neuropathy, constipation, blood sugars out of whack, etc.

    Oh No (Diagnosed): It was an annual physical when higher than normal proteins were present in the blood sample. Thanks to my General Practioner, he spotted the trend.
