Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Me brother has discovered that his AML is no longer in remission. Back to the hospital today for his third round of chemo. He's been two months off of it. We have a BMT donor, but he has too many blasts on his marrow to do it now. So, back we go ! Wish us a better trip this time!

I've been there and there is HOPE! A BMT is your brother's best chance of a cure...I had two. My AML was very aggressive and it came back strong just 6 weeks after my first BMT. I then had chemo (the 3rd bout of 24/7 for 5 days!) and my next BMT was PURE white cells only. That seemed to do the trick. The purpose of the 24/7 week of chemo is to TOTALLY clear your marrow and blood counts down to nothing. Perhaps they are waiting to do that until the donor's cells come in. BTW....I am now 5 years out from that 2nd BMT and on the CURED list! Prayers for your brother and HOPE, have faith and stay positive!

I am so sorry to read about both diagnosis but I want you to know that we can...in 2012 my husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer and while he was hospitalized to undergo surgery and remove his kidney I was diagnosed with stage IV B colon cancer with mets in liver and lung....it is so sad but in the middle of this sadness we learn we are stronger than we though and with lots of faith we can.....and we will ban cancer from the world.....grab God's hand .....wishing you both all the best...God bless you and continue blessing all of us

Thank you to all who took the time to write. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your help. I will take your suggestions and yes I will go through that blog page by page. Hopefully I can find that resource. Thank you also for the suggestion for cleaning for a reason. I will try to find that one as well. This is a wonderful resource and thank you again!

You're welcome, I personally received 4 free maid services recently by Cleaning for a Reason and I hope that they have volunteer maids available where your brother lives.
      Good luck and best wishes!

Although I can't see the resources available in your brother's area due to the account settings, you may be able to find additional help through your brother's area churches. Many churches have aid groups that will cook meals and deliver them or cook right at your brother's home. Another fabulous resource for you is the social worker (which should have been assigned to him at his hospital) - they should be able to provide more specific information about what type of help may be available to him. Wishing you both well!
