Welcome to our "distinguished" group! I hope your treatments go well for you. I'm wondering what the treatments are for. Had the carcinoid metastasize to other organs?

Celebration: Three years cancer free. Down to CT Scan annually. Blood work and see my oncologist quarterly.

CT scans are now scheduled annually after the most recent, which was clear. Blood work is good too. Yippee!

I continue to be cancer free. Scans to be done in July. Who knows what each day will bring. I remain healthy and hopeful.

Hello, I had a bowel resection last January for a carcinoid tumor. Tumor and 10 lymph nodes removed - 4 positive nodes. Sorry to hear about the liver issues - what can be done for that? So far I have no metastasis but we both know how sneaky those carcinoid cells can be. I had octreatide treatments for a few months but no longer.

Hello, I am still learning as you are. I had a couple of tumors removed midgut alone with lymph nodes x2. After octreotide I still have symptoms but continue to take it every 28 days. Last MRI in Nov. showed liver lesions were growing(also 5HIAA was up). My onc in Houston wants me to do sir-spheres, I am meeting with him next week and possibly have the mapping for the procedure. i am scheduled for the first week of Feb for the real thing. We will see.
I am happy that it seems they have cleared out the carcinoids you have now but never stop having then run the tests until they say you are cured and only then if this is stated by a carcinoid specialist. Always be on the look out for any problems. We are close in age so do not let your guard down. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing these details with me. I hope you don't mind a few questions. I'm wondering how long it was between your surgery to remove the tumors and the MRI that indicated metastasis. I have not had an MRI, but had a follow-up CT Scan and blood work. I do worry especially since I had 4 positive lymph nodes. I have bouts of diarrhea and some flushes but my oncologist doesn't seem concerned as long as the tests were negative. I have not felt the need to have a second opinion. What are your thoughts?
