    Indyen12 shared an experience

Celebration (Clean x-ray on first follow-up): Cancer is scary, and keeping your head while playing the waiting game is a tall order. I just had my first follow-up at 5 months. Everything looks fine. I feel like I can breathe again. I know that I had a mindset that THIS appointment was the be-all and end-all. When I look back at the moments wasted with worry instead of enjoying life, I'm sad. I work on living in the present, and this is even more important now. And embracing life, not sickness or death. And living. That's my destiny now. I'm going to set this burden down and live. And I'm going to do my best to maintain that, especially as every third month rolls around and I have to do it again. Thanks for letting me share.

Hi there! My mom was diagnosed with the same type of lung cancer and had the same surgery you had, on Feb. 3. The Dr. Said it was stage one T2, which I am thinking is Stage 1B. They said that the only reason it is a T2 is because some of the tumor was closer to one side of the lung lining. They want her to do chemo but she is 100% against it! She was in the hospital for 13 days because when they would clamp her chest tube she would get a pneumo (collapsed lung) she has been doing great recovery wise but now depression and anxiety is setting in. Her oncologist said that her cancer has a 30% chance of coming back if she doesn't do the chemo. As of right now she is cancer free. But I guess my question is, am I, her daughter expecting too much from her? I didn't think it would be a question of doing chemo or not! Just do it and you will have less chance of the cancer coming back.

Inspirational thanks. I go for mt CT scan in July and am trying to put my head knowledge of one day at a time to use! I know there are many people that feel as I do but they are not easy to locate and converse with.

    Hi Doris,

Hope all is well with you. I, too, had a lung resection (lower left lobe) and "chose" no further treatment. Nothing in lymph nodes. I'm anxious about my first follow up on 2/1 but hope for a clean report. Only then will I feel like I can set this "cancer XXX" down! At least for now.

    Good luck to you,
    Nancy
