For me, the fear is never gone, but I do not dwell on it. I respect the fear as it keeps me pushing to stay healthy. With time, I have settled into this mode. It is part of me, but I am LIVING LIFE, not fretting. I make sure I do something everyday that makes me happy. You will develop your own sense of survival as we are all different. There is no right or wrong way. Be kind to yourself. Time is the great healer. I am blessed.

I agree that time is a great healer and also lessens our fears. It has been three years since my last chemo treatment . I still have my chest port and will probably keep it for the next two years, when I hit the five year mark. If I am lucky, and do not have a recurrance, I will definitely have it removed, but, I want to hit the ground running should a recurrance occur. I am very busy living my life, but not too busy to listen to my body. So, distance from chemo, and time help. However, any cancer survivor will tell you they still get some degree of anxiety, " scanxiety" when tests or exams are due , six months, five years, even twenty years after diagnosis. So, realize this will probably be a part, a small part, of your life as a cancer survivor, and , like me, get busy living.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Had a complete hysterectomy on 1-5-15.!!!!!extreme pain, unlike anything I'd ever had before! Even though I am done having children, and HAD to have this done for cancer, I feel like part of me is missing. Will I ever feel normal again, have sex, just live life?
