Side Effects (Kidney damage): Well, well. A little setback starting cycle 2, My kidneys had started shutting down over Memorial Day weekend. I noticed slight trouble over the weekend and when I got in to the hospital to start cycle 2, all excited I must say, my labs showed Creatnine at 3 times normal level and BUN at over 3 times normal. I had done everything humanly possible with over the 2 litres of fluids a day and more. Good food and more. What happened? So now they are worried about my use of Cisplatin and may have to change Chemo medicine.

While you are matched to others based on your specific diagnosis (just click on "Find Peers" on your home page), you can also search for others by state. Click on "people" in the blue bar. On the left side of the page you'll see different ways you can search. Please let us know if you have any questions.

So on Monday May 21, 2012 I start my Chemo and Radiation. 6 weeks of radiation and 2 types of Chemo, Cisplatin which is 5 hours on day 1, day 8, day 29 and day 36. Etoposide which is 1 hour on days 1 thru 5 and days 29 thru 33. Needless to say I am scared, but the thought of dying from this within a couple months is scarier. I am a very spiritual person and my trust in God and faith that Jesus died for my salvation, keeps me trudging thru this broken world. I have a hard time with the anger and the fact that a lot of my doctors talk "mumbo jumbo". Give it to me straight. I am 65 and can take it. I love living but also can handle the hereafter if I must. Why do we have to pull teeth to get an answer? So anyway the journey continues on to the next chapter, whatever that may be, healing or just relieving the pain.
