James- Soup will become your best friend. You might also try a dry mix called Scandi Shake - it mixes with milk and gives you 600 calories at a pop -and tastes pretty good. You'll get tired of trying to eat/swallow, but it's important to keep your calories up.

Check into your local Cancer Society office or United Way. They have really good resources and can be very helpful. Also, some of the larger institutions (Mayo, Dana Farber, NIH) have foundations that assist the uninsured.

Hi James, my husband also was just diagnosed with this cancer, I am sorry to hear about your insurance issues, if I were you I would make an appointment with the sssi office close to you and bring something in writing that shows you have this cancer. Also there are lawyers that will help with no out of pocket money they take a percentage of what you get. And I think there is a max they can get something like 4k. My husband loves milkshakes ..I add whey protein to them. He also drinks ensure. He is in week three of treatment both chemo and radiation. If you want to talk let me know

Hi James, I am also going to add that you contact the American Cancer Society at the phone number at the bottom of this page. They have someone at all hours answering calls and providing help to people just like you. Perhaps they can give you some helpful suggestions. We support you.
