I first came to Whatnext when I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4 on Dec 23, 2011. So I am not new to the site, but have come back because of my breast cancer stage 2 in Dec, 2014. My pancreatic cancer is now in remission. Just started my radiation for the breast cancer this past Thurs.

Radiation (External radiation ): I have had 2 treatments and they seem to only make me tired. My breast seems to feel warm after a treatment and lasts about 3 hours.

The warmth is normal. Be aware of skin color if you sunburn easily. For ANY concerns ask to either talk with a nurse or doc! I am now 7 months post 33 radiation treatments and am still tired! My rad. oncologist says it just takes time to recover!

Hi Janabel - Use Aquaphor and/or a product containing Aloe. Use it EVERY day, 3-4 times. Especially on the areas that feel warm after treatment. I had external radiation, 5 days a week for 4 weeks and slathering on those products 3-4 times daily really helped prevent painful burns and itching. Tiredness does happen but wears off after treatment ends - all my best thoughts for you - JJ

Procedure or Surgery (Axillary Lymph Node Dissection): The surgeon placed a balloon in my breast for radiation, but small cancer cells were found in my lymph nodes under my arm. Had to have the balloon removed and seems to have waited forever to get started with my radiation treatment!

GregP You wanted to know about my trip to Houston went.... CA19-9 down to 47. It was 67 in October. I have not had any chemo since the oral chemo I took in connection with my radiation in June! My blood work was picture perfect and the CT has not changed in 2 months. The doc wants me to see my local oncologist for blood work and port flush once a month. He will see me again in April. I know deep in my heart that it is all the prayers that have been said on my behalf since this all began 12/23/2013!
