How far is that from you? Far enough to have to fly? Look in our blog for three different posts on resources. There are organizations that will provide free air travel in their corporate planes if it's far enough away. The american cancer society also has free rides to treatment, but you're talking about surgery I believe. Click here for the blog, www.whatnext.com/blog and click the link at the top of this page that says resources too, there may be some information there for you.

Call the hospital in Houston first thing Monday morning and ask for a social worker, or cancer navigator. Or ask for patient services? There will be a department there for cancer patients with financial needs. Many cancer centers do have housing available and transportation as well. I would ask your current doctor for help as well, and also for a social worker. In other words- do what I did- leave no stone unturned! But please don't let cost delay surgery and treatment if it comes to that....I also maxed out all my credit cards and spent every dollar I had, but I am still alive and well, and that is really all that counts.
