Loss (Body part/function): I was really worried about my sexuality as my prostrate as well as my bladder was removed. I had to start injecting my XXX to get an erection. Sex was never the same for me but as you read on later diagnosis that I had to learn that there is a lot more to being a man than ones XXX. I think men focus too much on that part of our sexuality.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Gattex): I started using a drug called Gattex which is used for SBS. The results have been amazing. I was emptying my bag a dozen times in 24 hours and basically had liquid diarrhea since 2011 and now my stools are back to normal emptying 2-3 times in 24 hours! They are the same consistency as before my anal cancer. I also started using a product called Enterade which is helping with digestion and absorption. Enterade also has an oral hydration powder that increases the absorption of liquids 3 fold. I only wish I would have known about these products years ago. Gattex is new and can be hard to get insurance to pay but there are options so talk to a GI that works with Short bowel syndrome. I am also feeling better everyday now that the Gattex is enabling much better nutritional absorption. The above products are designed for people on chemo but can really help other conditions like IBS etc.

Loss (Body part/function): With the loss of my urethra, I, at first, felt like I had lost my manhood. It has been really hard to regain my self esteem as a man. I have realized at this point that sex has not much to do with being a man. I have many other aspects of being a man that is much more important.

Celebration (The cancer is gone.): I am happy that I beat the cancer again but I still have issues. My doctor says that the cancer in my bladder or other areas in this region cannot return because we have removed everything related. It's kind of a mixed celebration if at all.
