Loss (Body part/function): With the loss of my urethra, I, at first, felt like I had lost my manhood. It has been really hard to regain my self esteem as a man. I have realized at this point that sex has not much to do with being a man. I have many other aspects of being a man that is much more important.

Celebration (The cancer is gone.): I am happy that I beat the cancer again but I still have issues. My doctor says that the cancer in my bladder or other areas in this region cannot return because we have removed everything related. It's kind of a mixed celebration if at all.

Side Effects (Sexual side effects): My intimacy has all but disappeared with my partner. He is very understanding. I'm lucky. My XXX looks strange and it just doesn't function anymore. I can have an XXX but it is not worth the effort as it is really weak. I am trying to introduce other ways to be intimate like giving massages. I feel really inadequate.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): This really was a change of life for me. My XXX was not deformed and had no pee hole. I'm now embarrassed of the way I look.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): After successfully beating Penile cancer, I found a mass in my urethra. After biopsy my doctor informed me that I would have to have my urethra removed. The same type of cancer that has plagued me all along. Squamous cell carcinoma
