Celebration (Finished treatment): August 2001 I finished my treatment and would begin 5 years of pelvic CT's every 6 months. I truly despised that barium I had to drink for every test. That was a small price to pay to celebrate NED.

Decision Point (Leave my ovaries or remove during hysterectomy): That would put me in instant menopause but my GYN ONCO was concerned the radiation would make them quit working anyway. We decided to remove them to prevent any problems with them in the future.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Tolerated my cisplatin treatment quite well. Completed 6 weeks along with my radiation. The best part was I did not lose my hair!

Radiation (Radiation and chemotherapy together): Radiation was horrible. Burned my skin and made walking and trips to the bathroom painful.

Procedure or Surgery (Radical hysterectomy): My tumor was spreading towards my bladder so my GYN oncologist had to look inside my bladder for cancer. That required that I keep a catheter in for 4 weeks after surgery so my bladder could heal properly.

Oh No (Diagnosed): Six months after the birth of my son during my annual checkup. I had always gone each year for my pap smears so I was very shocked and angry.
