If you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the database to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Greetings. Welcome to What Next. There are lots of great people here: patients/survivors, caregivers and family. If you have any questions, please use the question tab above -- that way everyone will have access & you'll get a quicker response. Don't get hung up on "expiration dates". That are a LOT of people here who have bypassed dates given by their drs by YEARS. Looking at the stats when I was diagnosed, I had a 15% survival chance for 5 years -- that was 7 and a half yrs ago, and I'm currently NED (no evidence of disease). I'm glad you found us but sorry for the circumstances that led you here. Wishing you and your dad all the best.

Oh No (Cancer has spread/Metastasized): My dad was recently diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. He starts chemo tomorrow 4-15-19. They have given him a year maybe a year and a half but who knows right? He has a good attitude. I'm just so scared of what the next however long will be lime for him.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I was diagnosed with intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma in 6/2011. I had 3/4 of my liver removed along with my gallbladder. I had 7 months of chemo and 30 rounds of radiation. I know of several CC patients who were given an “expiration date” and are living years after it passed. So, as scary as it is, don’t give up. If you haven’t already, join Cholangiocarcinoma Warriors on Facebook. It is an awesome group of CC patients that you can ask for questions and prayers and who will answer your questions, give you insight, help, suggestions, support, and love. It is so great to “talk” to people who are going through the same rare cancer. It took me 6 years before 6 1/2 years to meet anyone with my cancer. Wish this group was around when I was diagnosed. Also the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation website is an invaluable resource and they have an amazing conference every year for patients, caretakers, doctors and researchers. It is so great to meet and bond with people experiencing the same cancer. The conference gives you hope for the future.
