Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): MM attacked my left humerus causing the bone to become so weak I broke the bone throwing a tennis ball or the neighbor dog. 6 weeks waiting for it to heal on it's own for nothing. Ended up with surgery to place a plate on the humerus to stabilize it. Lots of pain involved and now I'm facing the fact I have active MM in a dozen spots on my skeleton.

I have had lesions as well and broke my femur when I fell several years ago. I have received Zometa since I was diagnosed -at first once a month and after a few years it went to every third month. Do you get any bone treatment? So far I’ve been injury free since that one fall.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): After having 2 years of bloodwork showing I am in complete remission I broke my left humerus tossing a tennis ball. X-rays show many lesions on the bone. PET scan shows active cancer in about a dozen places. So much for the great bloodwork numbers.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Velcade injections): Velcade shot every 2 weeks. Feel sick for about 6 hours afterwards. Causes neuropathy in hands and feet.

If you had a stem cell (auto) transplant and are taking Valcade for maintenance ask your oncologist if you can take ixabomib instead.

Procedure or Surgery (stem cell transplant): 14 days in the hospital after stem cell transplant. 10 days of misery than not to bad. Took a couple months to feel anywhere normal.
