Hi! Honestly, I feel the best thing that was for me was to act like I was normal again. I understood that people cared, but I wanted to get back on with my life. I don't want it to sound "mean" but I really just wanted my life back and not to remember about my experience. I will be honest with you, I really did put it in the back of my mind after I hit my 5 years, actually about 6, and now I am able to help others with my experience and to help educate and tell my story to others.

Help during Treatment

I was someone who wanted friends and then didn't want friends, wanted people to call and then didn't know what to say. It was a weird time and obviously every deals differently. It was just nice knowing that my real lifelong friends would get me, even if they didn't get the situation. They knew cancer, but didn't know what I was going through and it was on for them to tell me, or for me to let them know it was okay. I was on a lot of drugs for awhile so I did fall off the planet but when I came back they accepted me back, cancer card and all. True friends will always stay and become beneficial even if they're lost just like you.

I have never been one to let others help me. I have always taken care of myself and my family. If you have people offering to help take them up on it. You will be really tired. Get as much rest as you can. That was a big adjustment for me but accepting help made the whole thing easier.
