I lost my mother to this dreadful disease. She was a 5-year breast cancer survivor when she was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer. After undergoing chemo/radiation therapy, her cancer returned. She then volunteered for a clinical trial. The targeted treatment was killing the cancer but caused other problems in her lungs. We lost her shortly thereafter, but celebrate her everyday. She is a true hero!!
