saving pull tabs from cans for cancer treatments

When I got out of the Hospital after a auto accident my Dr. wanted me to get some exercise so I started riding my bicycle around our small town. I heard about collecting can tabs for Cancer Research, so I would stop and pick up the cans that people would throw out along the road. I saved the tabs for Oschner Hospital, La. and I recycled the cans and used the money to buy myself a new bike.
A couple years later I had collected quite a few and I saw one of the Oschner workers at the Vegetable Stand in town. I ask her if she could take them to the Hospital for me and she said yes. I told her I would bring them over to the clinic in a few minutes and she said no I can take them I told her I would bring them over. When I got there I walked in with four grocery bags of tabs. She was really surprised. I told her to get either a big bag or box and I went out to the car and got the other five or six bags. I thought she was going faint when she saw how many tabs I had. She said did you drink all of these? I told her only the diet coke’s. The rest were litter along the roads, mostly beer cans that people threw out of their cars.

Although my life is consumed with my own cancer battle and the battle of my wife's cancer, I still try to find the good and funny things to help guide me thru this battle. I am sorry if I have offended anyone. I believe there is beauty in all things. May your days be bright and happy ones.
