Hi JLMack57. I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. I only had cancer in one breast but opted to have both taken off for my own peace of mind. Now is the time for you to be your own advocate. If you don't want to go through the worry and extra surgery then tell your doctor you want both breasts removed. Listen to the little voice inside of you. And don't let the doctors push you into something that you don't want to do. I wish you well. Keep us posted.

Procedure or Surgery (Mastectomy): I went through 3 operations in 3 months for the same area. Doctor went against my wishes and took out more than 1 lymphnode. I had to have another surgery 3 days later because of a hematoma. Spent 9 days in the hospital and only sae the doctor when something went wrong.

My Doctor told me that he would take out the lump on Aug 24. He did that and on Aug H told me that it was cancer. Then he schedualed another operation to take out more surrounding tissue and check the lymphnods. He did that. On Sept.21st. Then on the 24th I started throwing up and couldn't get help until Oct 1st when I had a scheduled appt. with my Doctor for follow-up. He then put me in the hospital for dehidration amd nausea and vomitting. The 2nd of Oct Htold me that again my pathology report came back cancer in the outer sections. At the time we discussed taking my Breasts off. But when I went back to the Dr.s office on the 5th of Oct he said that they are only going to take of the left breast and then do a biopsy on the right breast. So that means at least 2 more surgerys if no more cancer is found. I don't understand why he doesnt take the both off and stop the chance of it spreading more. Can anyone help me understand. Please
