I hope you will get some answers soon, but in the meantime, I did a search here on Gemzar. You can follow this link: https://bit.ly/2rKxk2S to see previous discussions about Gemzar that have taken place here on WhatNext.

Best of luck! Thanks for being an awesome, proactive caregiver!

This is another search done by putting the term "Gemzar" into the search bar on the Experiences page. It gives another set of responses and posts where people have listed it in their journey.

My husband had that particular chemical for his CLL. Are they keeping you really hydrated? If not ask why?
Also, drink lots of water to help flush the chemical from your body. My husband also liked the frozen popsicles (the ones that come not frozen and you put them in your freezer).

Judson, you said she's seen a GI doctor 3 times. Have you considered calling the GI doctor and the oncologist and asked them to try something new for her reflux. Is she a candidate for the surgery for reflux? Have you thought of getting a second opinion, possibly at a teaching hospital?

I noticed you said she's terminal. Many Stage IV patients live for many years if they're treated. I hope she can resume her chemo. Best wishes.

New Mexico is a target state for the war against diabetes and these stupid doctors do what the CDC tells them to do.

I can't believe that doctors wouldn't know it's better to have a little weight to spare. When my mother got pneumonia a year before she died, she was in the hospital, couldn't eat and lost 20 pounds in no time---which also meant she was too weak to walk and was discharged to a nursing home---that weight loss led to her demise.

Well 2 weeks after the first Chemo some good things some bad. The process itself was not that bad. The nurses and PA's made Marti very comfortable. We left the Hospital wondering what all the drama was about. ...............Then 5pm rolled around and it got bad..very bad.

Those first 3 days were very trying. Couldn't eat, just getting some water in her was difficult. I had to set up padded mats in the bathroom. Next 3 were pretty rough but better. She then had 4-5 good days. Not great days...good days. Its all relative right? She had one very rough day and we went to the ER due to fever. Interesting enough 1 week after treatment her white blood cell count was very low. VERY LOW......2 weeks later...VERY HIGH!

Still has her hair, says her hair hurts, so we know that could be coming...but eh.....who cares. :)

She is on an every 3 weeks schedule with the Chemo so we go back next week. Last exam showed a slight decrease in the size in the main tumor. We remain hopeful.
