My husband had that particular chemical for his CLL. Are they keeping you really hydrated? If not ask why?
Also, drink lots of water to help flush the chemical from your body. My husband also liked the frozen popsicles (the ones that come not frozen and you put them in your freezer).

I was on GemZar for 5 mos. My lung nodule shrunk in half. It builds up in the system like all chemos. I would eat very bland foods for 2 -3 days: oatmeal, mush, grits, mashed potatoes, noodles, no spices, no dairy, lots of water to flush. Dr. has me on a break b/c a-fib started acting up. I'm triple positive MBC. Depending on the CT scan, Dr. wants to go back to it, since I did so well compared to the others of which some didn't work. I'm also going to the links to be better informed.

My husband has been on Gemzar for his liver cancer. He seems to do fairly well. He has a one-day infusion every 3 weeks. The first 2-3 days he will feel yucky (tired, irritable). He will eat but some foods and even water taste weird. So try spicier foods and drinks like Gatorade.

Judson, you said she's seen a GI doctor 3 times. Have you considered calling the GI doctor and the oncologist and asked them to try something new for her reflux. Is she a candidate for the surgery for reflux? Have you thought of getting a second opinion, possibly at a teaching hospital?

I noticed you said she's terminal. Many Stage IV patients live for many years if they're treated. I hope she can resume her chemo. Best wishes.

New Mexico is a target state for the war against diabetes and these stupid doctors do what the CDC tells them to do.

I can't believe that doctors wouldn't know it's better to have a little weight to spare. When my mother got pneumonia a year before she died, she was in the hospital, couldn't eat and lost 20 pounds in no time---which also meant she was too weak to walk and was discharged to a nursing home---that weight loss led to her demise.
