    Juli asked a questionBreast Cancer

I had a mediport put in 3 days ago. It is still very sore and it burns. The skin has been red but it seems to be a little better today.

My power port was sensitive for about 2 weeks and now nearly 4 months later I hardly notice it unless one of the grand kids hugs me just right. They accessed my port 2 days after the insertion so I think that added a bit of time to the healing.

All in all I think it's helped with treatments.

Keep it positive and smile :)

Thank you for the responses. beth2012 I was also wondering about it sticking out, so thank you for that comment. The port has become less red and is no longer warm. My oncologist saw it and said he thought there could be cellulitis there. I ended up going to ER because when I called the surgeon who put it in he said it was fine, without looking at it. As of now it has been 12 days and I believe it is becoming more "normal." I still have to get his "ok" before my oncologist will do chemo with the port.
