    I got feedback from a person I shared chi-kung exercises with at my chemotherapy center. She told me that she got some relief from the side effect of sensitivity to coldness in her hands. She noticed an increase in blood circulation in her hands. It felt good that positive results were reported from an attempt to help someone. Has anyone else been able to help someone with advise, or anything?? It makes me feel like I'm fighting back.

    I am using chi-gung excercises to offset side effects - cold hands. Anyone else getting good results from same?

      Can you describe chi-gung exercises? My husband's hands have been cold and stiff and clumsy since first chemo (oxalplatin).

      most simply, intertwine the fingers, about shoulder height, palm side facing outward. Push hands outward away from the body. Breath out while pushing hands. Bring hands down, about 6 inches, and pull intertwined hands towards the chest; Breath in. Repeat. One person I taught this to at my chemo center had improvement repeating this motion 10 times 3 times a day. I use 18 repetitions at least three times a day. The breathing is very important. Push and pull hands slowly enough to complete full and deep breaths each time. Try this for at least two weeks. Don't give up after first attempts.- God Bless.

      I did chi gung for general health for 6 months following my last diagnosis and treatment and it was exceptional. It was a great stress reducer as well as helpful in relieving muscle tension. It is supposed to help with lymph flow as well.

      I ended up with other benefits as well. Significantly increased my balance (I am a ski instructor and have done yoga for 10 years, so a noticeable increase in balance was a pleasant surprise), was good for over-all and core toning, increased range of motion and reduced soreness in a shoulder I injured years ago.

      With a competent instructor, I believe anyone can benefit. My instructor works with arthritus patients and some participants work from a chair if they need to. One will probably get a benefit even by following some of the better youtubes videos. Of course, always talk with your doctor about your exercise program.

    Side Effects: My hands get extremely cold. To the point of cramping. Swallowing cold things numb my lips. I have a strange dry feeling in my throat as well. Only with cold things.
    I get very tired.
