Thanks, Pheonix. But, do you mean they got the high blood pressure under control? And, what did they use? Is your blood pressure normal now?

      Hi
We stopped the Avastin. Then my blood pressure went back to normal. I'm not clear if you can stop it. Is it part of your treatment? I guess sometimes it appears the cure is worst than the disease.

I was on maintenance Avastin for 9 mos when my bp shot through the roof! Was getting headaches , heart palps as well. Was put on Linosipril (sp) and taken off Avastin until blood pressure came down and then started it again.

Decision Point (Clinical trial): After the additional three rounds of chemo, pet scan showed a progression(although, minimal) of the cancer. Decided to do the clinical trial. If it works for me--that's great--if not, maybe it will help someone 5 years down the line. I will still have the standard chemo to fall back on to see if that works. Sorry I have not written anything since I joined--I have been totally overwhelmed with this. My mother died of breast cancer--her sister a few months later. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she is doing fine. My father had cancer 4 times before he died. I have a very bad family history of cancer, and now, here I am.

Loss (Lost loved one): My dad, who had cancer before, was diagnosed with lung cancer again. This time, there was nothing that was going to stop it. My sisters and I took care of him at home until the night that he died. During this time, I found an enlarged lymph node on my collar bone, but just didn't have time to deal with it. When I finally went to the doctor; he biopsied it, and the cancer was back! I went back to my original doctor who had done the surgery and started chemo again. Did 6 rounds, but the pet scan still showed some cancer in a lymph node in my pelvis. So, three more rounds and hope for a remission again.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Started carboplatin and taxol every three weeks. Had a severe reaction one day to the taxol, but otherwise it went pretty smoothly. Did 6 rounds until I developed numbness in my fingers and toes, so they stopped chemo. Pet scan showed nothing--all's well.
