Drug or Chemo Therapy (Hormone therapy): I am starting Tamoxifen this week. I am a bit nervous about the side effects, but have done well with the treatments up to now, so I'm hoping for the best.

Radiation (External radiation ): The real impact to daily life is adding the treatments to your schedule. I traveled 35 miles to my treatments so I had to leave work each day, which was difficult at first, but I had great support at work and from friends who helped me by picking up my kids and etc. Otherwise, the doctors, nurses and technicians were awesome so it was almost fun to see them each day.
I experienced some pain as my skin started to break down and had put a bandage over an area where some skin had worn away. I didn't realize how damaged my skin was so the bandage pulled away more skin. It was painful and I wish I'd known not to do that. My skin became darker and I did find that because it was damaged and painful, it helped to wear a t-shirt under my bra to keep it from rubbing against my skin.
I did find that it healed very quickly after the treatments ended. I was very thankful for that!
